Position Description
The Senior Director, Technology is a key position responsible for chartering, evolving, promoting and expanding the technology & development practice at OX. This position will also be focused on helping the leadership team to drive company growth, profitability, operational excellence and business strategy. This position will report to the Co-CEO. 

This is a crucial role at OX as it requires this person to be a visionary lead, crafting and executing the strategic direction for all of our technology efforts. This position will lead the development and product teams and spearhead client engagements through human-centered processes that leverage a depth of complex digital technologies to solve business problems. This person must not only exhibit mastery of the integration of large-scale Web and emergent technologies, but must also possess that ability to put complex technology solutions in simple terms for our clients.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Contribute meaningfully to the overall strategic and business objectives of OX
  • Oversee and ensure successful delivery for all OX technology projects 
  • Responsible for the overall growth and profitability of the technology practice 
  • Oversee operations of the Technology practice, maintaining an optimal balance of capacity, utilization and profit margin
  • Achieve operational maturity through implementing and following best practices when it comes to processes, workflows, documentation, and standards 
  • Evaluate client technology systems and processes against business objectives and make recommendations for new technologies, systems or processes to meet those objectives and realize the transformation they seek
  • Support business development needs as it relates to technology and development, including contributing technology expertise to project estimates, solution recommendations, development of proposals and pitch presentations
  • Provide guidance and oversight on OX Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, systems, governance, management and support 
  • Develop and grow OX’s digital and technology partner program (software providers and third-party collaborators), opening up potential new business opportunities as well as ensuring that OX is continually growing its expertise and innovation with key technology systems, platforms, and practices
  • Ensure overall team health and demonstrate excellence within the Technology practice
  • Contribute to hiring, career path management, reward and recognition plans and culture of the Technology practice
  • Build and grow a thriving network for web and application development talent for OX, both onshore and offshore
  • Establish and evolve OX philosophies, processes and methodologies for delivering human-centered technology solutions internally and externally
  • Contribute to thought leadership efforts across a variety of platforms including podcasts, industry events, white papers, and more.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

Required Experience

  • Degree in a related field, such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 12+ years experience in the design of systems architectures and the development and delivery of interactive products, web-based applications, content management systems, ecommerce systems and/or maintaining large-scale data-driven technology solutions in a client-services firm or agency
  • Demonstrated expertise in B2C and B2B technology assessment, architecture, design and development, including a working knowledge of all and a deep expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: PHP, .Net, Java, C#, C++
  • Expert understanding of enterprise ecommerce solutions across leading platform vendors such as Adobe, Magento, Optimizely, Znode and Shopify
  • In-depth experience with digital experience platforms such as Sitecore, Adobe and Optimizely
  • Demonstrated experience directing a team of software developers, system architects, business analysts and outside consultants in the successful development of technology solutions
  • Expert understanding of modern programming techniques for multi-device applications
  • Expert ability to assess business objectives and requirements and translate them into actionable technology strategies
  • Strong user-centered design orientation
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel to meet with clients or present in a new business capacity

Measures of Success

  • Development of a clear and repeatable set of technology service offerings and processes
  • Ongoing improvement of quality (customer satisfaction) and effectiveness (on time and on budget delivery) of solutions and deliverables for all freelance and full-time technology and development practitioners
  • Increased volume and profitability of technology practice billings
